“I don’t like broccoli…”

How many times have you heard that or even said it yourself!?
Well guess what, MAYBE broccoli doesn’t like you either!

One day I was on IG browsing and an post came up about an upcoming online estate sale and a preview of some of the items… the items were pretty fabulous and I was intrigued… but I didn’t know who the gal was and what was the hype. Included in the items was an apron with the words, “maybe broccoli doesn’t like you either.” I loved it.

Fast forward a few weeks I found myself still thinking about the broccoli apron and how amazing the phrase one. I did a little research and discovered the estate sale was for author Joan Didion. I’m sort of embarrassed to admit, I didn’t know who she was. I’ve become more of a reader as of late so I figured I’d give it a go and order one of her books online. I chose, “The Year of Magical Thinking”. I had read that she lost her husband and wrote this after to help with her grief… I had just lost my Mother so I thought this would be a good place to start.

I finished the book in 3 days… I learned that she and her husband at one point had lived right up the street from where I was living! I learned that Joan Didion is a bad ass and lived an incredible life with her husband. I cried, I laughed, there were SO many connections in the book for me ~ it really hit home. I’ve since read more of her work and am a new fan.

Any who, long story short, this November Drop t-shirt was inspired by Joan Didion and her incredible cooking apron. If you haven’t read any of her books, I recommend doing so! She was ahead of her time and I truly am inspired by her.
